Jim Barnes serves as Chairman of both BroadStar and FM Facility Maintenance. He founded FM and formerly served as the company's CEO. Jim personifies leadership in cost-effective facility maintenance and environmental sustainability solutions. He is the 2008 Winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepeneur of the Year award for the Services Industry, and the Winner of the Business Person of the Year 2008 award from the Hartford Business Journal. Mr. Barnes purchased the original business in 2004, then known as Integrated Process Technologies, and rebranded the company as FM Facility Maintenance in 2008. Using his extensive related industry experience, he developed a new business model for FM that delivers significant savings on repair, maintenance and energy costs for the company’s multi-site retail and restaurant customers.
Mr. Barnes is the founder of OAKLEAF Waste Management, North America’s fastest growing waste logistics provider. OAKLEAF was recognized in Inc. Magazine’s 5000 List and the Inc. Inner City 100 list a total of nine times since 2001. Mr. Barnes has also received national recognition for reengineering an industry and has been featured in Fortune, Chain Store Age, Waste Management News, Recycling Today and Fast Company for his many accomplishments.
He serves on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Science Center and Hartford’s Riverfront Recapture and the Board of Governors for the National Solid Wastes Management Association. Mr. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Marist College and also serves on the Board of Trustees. |
