Roy King joined BroadStar as CEO in March 2010. He was recruited to leverage his exceptional track record of holistically helping technology businesses achieve their profitable growth and market share objectives. He has worked in early stage and well established technology companies in CEO, COO and President/GM roles for over 16 years and served clients in the manufacturing sector as a management consultant for 11 years prior to leadership roles in industry. Mr. King’s focus at Broadstar is the successful commercialization of BroadStar’s lead wind energy solution, the AeroCam, through both direct and dealer channels.
Mr. King’s dual career path in engineering and business for technology and technology enabled service businesses, along with his results-driven industry leadership experience has served his diverse domestic and international clients well. Throughout his career, he has worked with and for the world’s leading technology and professional services brands. His breadth of leadership experience encompasses full P&L, revenue generation and delivery responsibility for providing technology product and services on a global basis to customers across a diverse set of industries, including manufacturing, retail, distribution and energy. For these companies, he has developed and implemented successful marketing and channel strategies, launched new technology products and services, improved the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate supply chains, implemented major cost reduction programs and created high performance management teams.
Mr. King began his career in Industrial Engineering with firms like The Trane Company and Deere & Co. and then transitioned into management consulting as a Partner with KPMG-Peat Marwick and Booz, Allen & Hamilton. His expertise focused on improving effectiveness and efficiencies for diverse clients’ businesses through strategic operational and technology-based initiatives. Mr. King then joined IBM Global Services as VP of IBM Consulting for Manufacturing Industries and helped IBM grow its consulting and professional services business from zero to a multi-billion dollar business worldwide. He also served as GM of Information Technology Services and Industry Solutions for EMEA, a $3B business unit with full P&L responsibility and operations across 23 countries in Europe.
Following IBM, as Chairman, CEO and President of Mercator Software, Mr. King is credited for turning around the $120M public enterprise application integration global software company. After selling Mercator to a strategic buyer, Mr. King was recruited as President and CEO to help an early stage technology company, Security Source, which concluded in the successful sale of the business. As President for Gevity HR and then Rockit Solutions, LLC, a subsidiary of Rockefeller & Co., Mr. King re-engineered all facets of the respective companies’ businesses, resulting in significant customer growth and improvement of their core operations.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Compupay, as the primary advisor on technology, and was a former board member of Mercator Software. Mr. King holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University. |
