Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Director Design Engineering
Date: August 1, 2008

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains, and modifies wind turbine structural systems and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods to provide product definition and specification of associated parts
  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product design
  • Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Knowledgeable in current computer applied mechanical design programs and tools
  • 2+ years experience in mechanical design of large machinery

Field Service Technician

Job Title: Field Service Technician
Department: Installation and Maintenance
Reports to: Director Field Service
Date: August 1, 2008

Primary Responsibilities:

  • On-site assembly, installation, start-up testing and troubleshooting of wind turbines.
  • On-site preventive maintenance, repairs, retrofits and testing of existing wind turbines.
  • Assist in the on-site coordination of third party installation/maintenance contractors.
  • Submit report and analysis information to customers and project management.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience/knowledge of working with electrical and/or mechanical equipment installation and repair.

Building Structural Engineer

Job Title: Building Structural Engineer
Department: Installation and Maintenance
Reports to: VP Installation and Maintenance
Date: August 1, 2008

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Executes structural design, analysis, and recommendations for on-site wind turbines installations.
  • Coordinates the collection and fulfillment of all customers building ownership, local and state coding, and licensing requirements prior to turbine installation.
  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams including sales, contracts, field technicians, customer and contractors.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical/Structural Engineering degree. 5+ years experience in building system design.
  • Solid understanding of structural dynamics, civil construction, and metal/composite material properties.
  • Experience with Federal Enterprise Architecture tools (e.g. Ansys). MBS and vibration measurement preferred.

Building Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Building Electrical Engineer
Department: Installation and Maintenance
Reports to: VP Installation and Maintenance
Date: August 1, 2008

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the on-site electrical design and integration of our wind turbine’s installation and maintenance function.
  • Perform root cause analysis to resolve electrical and control anomalies during the life of the turbines.
  • Research and prepare formal responses to customer inquiries regarding wind turbine electrical integration issues.
  • Coordinate design activities with corporate engineering and installation issues with field service technicians and contractors.
  • Review utility interconnection requirements to ensure compliance with grid transmission operations.

Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering degree.
  • 5+ years prior electrical support experience.
  • Knowledgeable in electrical installation and conversion.
  • Test/verification and setting up electrical test environments.
